“Tough times never last but tough people do.” – Robert H. Schuller
It’s true – the tough times never stick around. The human spirit is so strong, so resilient, that we can overcome nearly any obstacle in our path. Everything may be frustrating right now but take heart in the fact that it WILL pass. Just take a breath and trust.
The quarantine will end so much faster if everyone plays nice in the sandbox. Stay in. Nothing worthwhile is open except grocery or big box stores and after a few trips, you just become bored with it all. Make sure you have food and water but there isn’t a need to go exploring right now. If you crave the outdoors, go for a walk in the neighborhood or sit outside. It’s becoming barbecue season so maybe fire up the grill or tackle those spring projects you’ve been meaning to get to forever ago.
If you do have to head out, be it work or to procure essentials, stay 6 feet away from everyone. If you want to wear gloves, go for it, but DISPOSE OF THEM IN A GARBAGE CAN. Throwing them in a parking lot or on the sidewalk isn’t helping keep the virus at bay, which means the longer you have to stay inside. Do not wear them throughout the day – they are one use. If you wear them repeatedly, you are only spreading the filth over more areas, into your car and eventually into your home. Don’t have gloves? Awesome – just wash your hands A LOT. When you get home from being out, make the first thing you do washing your hands.
Don’t have visitors at your home. If they don’t live there or are there to perform an essential service, it can wait. We get it – we’re all missing social interaction and friends or family. Sacrificing now only speeds up the quarantine date and gets the fun places open faster.
Most important, if you feel sick or are displaying any symptoms, stay home. You may be a carrier and not even know it. By the way, masks don’t protect you from catching things but they help protect others from YOU. If you’re a carrier, getting your respiratory drops all over someone’s clothes and face is a surefire way to spread it. A mask keeps those drops to yourself.
You have probably heard these things a hundred times over but it bears repeating. A few simple rules and we can get outside to play in the sun that much faster.
