While we are looking at nearly a month of quarantine ahead of us, this is an apt quote.
Tensions are high and emotions are running wild as some of the public is huddled in terror of catching coronavirus or spreading it and others are angry that life is put on hold as a protective measure. Marie Curie’s words are needed now more than ever. The quarantine isn’t about disrupting lives or spreading fear – it’s about understanding the virus better and analyzing how the simple measures we take on a daily basis can improve health overall in many aspects, not simply for the corona pandemic.
Every single emotion everyone is feeling is normal, natural and, most importantly, understandable. But this quarantine is not to spread fear or incite anger. It is to gain knowledge – to crack the code, so to speak. We pursue and study this truth now so we fear it no longer in the future and our descendants need not fear it in theirs.
Stay strong. Take a long, deep breath. We are never led places we aren’t strong enough to survive.
